Messy Church at First UMC Hampton!
Sometimes life is messy. But God can meet us in the midst of the mess!
Messy Church is a joyful, creative, Christ-centered celebration for families and people of all ages and backgrounds. We would love to welcome you to find God in the midst of chaos and creativity with us!
Under normal circumstances…
On the second Wednesday of each month, families and people of all ages gather for a creative, Christ-centered celebration called Messy Church.
- We start at 5:30 pm in the Fellowship Hall with an open time of crafts, games, science and sensory activities, all based on a theme from a Bible story. We usually do get kind of messy in one way or another, so it’s good to be dressed casually!
- Around 6:20, we go upstairs for a brief, energetic, interactive worship time of singing, praying, and connecting with the Bible.
- By 6:45 we are back downstairs for dinner, where everyone is encouraged to connect in conversation, and where we celebrate recent birthdays and offer something for people to take home to remind them of the faith themes until we gather again.
- The evening ends by 7:30 so young people (and our church volunteers!) can get home and go to bed at a decent time.
Messy Church is for anyone and everyone, regardless of age, background, level of faith or doubt, ability to sit still, or prior experience with arts, crafts, or science. If you have questions, please contact us.
