On behalf of the congregation and myself, we would like to personally extend an invitation to you and your family to attend First United Methodist Church of Hampton.

As you will observe as you look through the various ministries of our church, First Church has a fine tradition of meeting the needs of the congregation as well as the community.  Take a moment and read about all the ways we reach out in Christ’s Name.  This website has been designed to give you a glimpse into the things that we are striving to do.  We prayerfully hope that you will be a part of us.

Our mission statement that is printed on every worship bulletin every Sunday says:  “To Know and Share Jesus Christ”.  As a congregation we strive through worship, small groups and Bible study to grow deeper in our spiritual journey with Jesus.  But the calling that God has placed on our hearts does not stop there.  We want to share Jesus as well.  We are constantly at work to live into our statement.
Come visit us at First Church YOU ARE ALWAYS WELCOME!

Rev. Dr. Michael Lee Nelson, Pastor

Community Outreach

During the Hampton Bay Days Festival each September, FUMC reaches out to the community with food, fun and fellowship. Our Brunswick Stew or Bull Island Clam Chowder and Ham biscuit lunch have become a tradition. Youth and adult members sell hot dogs, water and canned drinks. Children’s games, white elephants, plants, baked goods and dunking the pastor are fun activities with an opportunity to witness for Christ.

In November, the United Methodist Women host our Candy Cane Lane Bazaar where baked goods, crafts, artwork, a silent auction and lunch with Christmas music are available to the community. All proceeds from the Bazaar benefit United Methodist Women mission projects.
